The latest Plastic Free Swansea meeting...
A meeting of the wider group took place at The Environment Centre on 14th June. It included feedback on progress of the group so far, updates from local activities, launching the website and opportunities for members to suggest ideas to move things on.

Plastics Bill in Parliament
On Monday 11th June, Swansea West MP Geraint Davies launched a Plastics Bill through Parliament. It includes several measures such as: a duty to report on the reduction and recycling of plastics targets; all plastics should be recyclable by 2025 (UK-currently by 2040, EU by 2030); producer should pay. 90% of costs of plastic recycling are paid by tax payers; establish a levy on plastic bottles alongside a Refill campaign; and establish a Plastics Agency – to monitor and enforce plastic production and consumption targets.

Wales as a 'Refill' nation
On 7th May, The Environment Minister Hannah Blythyn announced plans to consolidate Wales’s place as the leading UK nation for recycling and reducing waste, as well as her ambition for Wales to be the World’s first ‘Refill Nation.’
